Afterplace provides multiple ways of playing the game, as a PC player who wants complete immersion or a mobile game enjoyer looking to have a more casual playthrough at any place and/or time, there are options for how you would like to experience the world the player is dropped inside. With the options, gameplay can be quite casual with some simple controls for the game. New players should have an easy time to adjust and get the hang of how the game works. A keyboard and mouse, controller, or even the screen of a phone can provide comfy gameplay. Straightforward and easy combat had never been easier. Giving you the chance to really immerse inside of the story. Traveling through different locations within the game can be easy and even find yourself becoming lost, literally with the open world the game has. The player has the chance to explore around and find different paths on and off the task of the mission the story provides. Along with traveling, the player will find themselves in combat from time to time which is still a simple task with the easy-to-understand controls. Making for smooth sailing as it gives the player the chance to enjoy the full story!
Once immersed in this mysterious world, you are able to start uncovering the story while traveling throughout the land. Meeting some unique characters that will have different interactions each time that you cross paths with them. Making for an entertaining time while having more progression done within the story. Falling deeper into what becomes the true adventure of the game without realizing it! I’ve found myself playing longer sessions with each time that I had opened the game, many twists and turns coming along in the story. Every time that I felt that I understood this simple little game, I actually had my expectations changed with another twist being presented to me again. Only drove my desire to see how this story would end. To compliment the gameplay, there is first the retro pixel-like art style Giving the game its own distinctive style and standing out with the colorful scenes. Being able to easily change tones and even setting the mood for the appropriate times. Something that goes great with the art is the music as well. The soundtrack of the game compliments the story, with soothing tracks for simple travel throughout the land, upbeat tones, and thrilling heart-pumping beats for the heat of battles. All each having their own tone when needed and setting the mood when necessary. A great experience all around packaged into a little adventure world.
As someone who had entered Afterplace completely blind, I recommend it as the best way to experience the game. So much rich storytelling has been placed within this world and being able to have the chance to replay the game more than once has provided new content and a new outlook on the story. Being able to discover new signs that you may have missed the first time along with some new lore and characters that you could have missed in the first play-through. As I have played throughout this story, I have found myself shocked, surprised, and most of all enjoying myself each time that I’ve made some discoveries along with the main character that we are following. I’ve found myself experiencing longer playtime to try and discover every little detail the game could offer along with multiple times starting the game over to catch everything. Give yourself the chance to go in and enjoy the retro nostalgic feel that Afterplace offers to each player of the game. Please take the time and try it out for yourself!
