For decades, tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons thrived on Eurocentric fantasy tropes while sidelining Black players and creators. From gatekeeping to stereotypes, the TTRPG world wasn’t always welcoming—but that’s changing. Today, Black storytellers and communities are reclaiming the table with new systems, streams, and worlds rooted in Black culture and imagination. This article explores why representation matters and how the game is finally evolving.
